Tzatziki.co.uk

Welcome to Tzatziki.co.uk. This is the website where you can learn to make and enjoy tzatziki for free. We will also show you tips on how to improve your food using tzatziki to make your meals really tasty.

There are a few great ways to use tzatziki.

1. As a starter before a meal served with Greek Style Pitta Bread or with fresh bread.

2.As an accompaniment to various main courses which we will cover later in this website.

3.As a Marinate for various foods to add extra flavour and tenderness to various foods.

The Recipe for Tzatziki is very simple and the ingredients are available in most supermarkets.

You will Need

A Cucumber.
Three cloves of fresh Garlic.
500ml Preferably Greek Yogurt Total is the one which I personally prefer.
Make sure the yogurt is thick.
If the yogurt is watery you can strain it in a clean teatowel and leave it to hang overnight in a cool place.
This will not happen if you buy total greek yogurt.
Oregano.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil .
1/2 teaspoon of distilled vinegar (clear).
Salt and Black Pepper.
Few Kalamata Olives to Garnish

Some equiptment you will find useful will be

1 A Bowl 1 litre capacity
2 A Garlic Crusher
3 A Grater
4 Chopping Board.
5 Large spoon to mix.
6 Small Knife.

1. Empty the yogurt into a colander lined with cheesecloth and let it drain in the sink for two hours. The yogurt will lose about a third of its volume and will be considerably more creamy and thick.

2. Once the cucumbers are shredded, place them in a colander with a dish on top to weight them down, and let them drain for an hour. Squeeze the cucumbers in batches between the palms of your hand to rid them of any excess moisture.

3. Combine the yogurt, cucumbers, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper in a serving bowl. Mix well and refrigerate, covered, for an hour before serving. Serve chilled, garnished with mint leaves.

Yield: 6-8 servings
